Bartlett UCL – Spring 2019 Guest Exhibition
Lin'an History Museum: Wang Shu + Lu Wenyu
Lin’an History Museum: Wang Shu + Lu Wenyu is The Bartlett School of Architecture UCL Spring 2019 Guest Exhibition designed by Chee-Kit Lai (director of Mobile Studio Architects).
The main feature that makes up the central display is inspired by Chinese scroll paintings. Backlit scrolls depicting the unfinished Lin’an History Museum in Hangzhou, China by Amateur Architecture Studio are physically layered into a collage of drawings, photographs, short film and virtual reality experiences.
The Bartlett’s virtual reality (VR) film allows viewers to explore the museum under construction at the foot of Gongchen Mountain in Lin’an, China. It gives hints of the traditional Chinese building techniques that are being utilised in the construction of the building designed by Amateur Architecture Studio.
